UV light, a technology that has been used to kill germs for 100 years, is currently attracting great interest in restaurants, doctors offices and prisons.
It was first widely used in the early 19th century to eradicate tuberculosis outbreaks and is known to kill viruses.
Nowadays, the technology is highly advanced and Virus killing UVC systems can be installed and run safely inside many homes and places of work.
Jails have Been an Unfortunate Proving Ground for UV Systems.
Jails and Prisons are particularly affected by the virus. The Johnson County, Kansas sheriff is already battling a COVID-19 outbreak at their main jail. It started this spring, and nearly half of the inmates tested positive within a short period.
Now Sheriff Duane Burgess is considering technologies to combat the virus, and several counties are considering the UV-C Disinfection Systems for the first time.
UV light Sterilisation Systems are units which kill microorganisms and viruses in the air and on surfaces such as desks, walls, floors, ceilings, windows and doors.
I want to see this stuff, “Burgess said, and right now the market is itching for a reliable UVC system that everyone in the United States wants.”
Well, here in the UK Pathogen are offering a reliable and tested system for killing viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens in the air and on surfaces. Our Elite-101 System is the premier UVC Sterilisation unit available.
When a microorganism is exposed to ultraviolet light from the virus, it breaks down its DNA and is dead within seconds. UV light helps wherever there is human-to-human transmission. That is all well and good however a Jackson County jail didn’t have the UV-C machine during the initial phases of covid 19. This led to a huge outbreak throughout the whole jail system.
The head Sheriff then bought one from a company called Skytron for $40,000, and prison commander Chris Everhart swore it off as a waste of money.
However within a month, he proudly announced that “We don’t have any coronavirus cases, “Jackson County Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Gorman said gleefully as he finally understood the benefit of such a system.
“Workers take fewer sick days, and prisoners’ health generally improves”, said the institution’s Doctor, Dr. John Gorman, a well renowned physician in the area.
“Science, “said Dr. David G. Schulman, an engineering professor at Purdue University who studies UV / C.”Science is giving us new technologies to defeat this virus and UVC is the main way to achieve this. This is Due to its low cost and easy handling, UV light technology is a practical alternative to conventional disinfectant practices.”
It will certainly kill COVID-19, “Dr. Gorman said,” and I think that this knowledge has been proven many times enough”.
“It destroys the DNA of the virus and gets into every corner of the room”, he said. “Therefore, it would work if the exposure time and dose were high enough for the DNA to be broken down”.
In a small room it takes about 14 minutes, with newer systems. However in a large room it can take a few hours, with many being safe to occupy after about 30 minutes. “We want to see the results quickly,” Sheriff Burgess said, “and as long as you run them long enough, you have no worries about the virus being active,” Burgess said.
“It will take a little time and effort to show that it really works, but it does, and remarkably well.” according to Kubis and his colleagues at the University of Texas at Austin.
Kubis is excited about the potential: “If you end up buying a UV-C device, you pay quite a hefty price for the units which can get expensive with multiple prisons.” “New systems have brought a reduction in price, but they still have to be worked into the budget.”
The new models are currently being considered by the US Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies in the United States.
Unfortunately for them, they don’t have any Pathogen UVC sterilisation systems which are high performing and a fraction of the cost of their systems!
Even DARPA is Getting into UVC Virus Killing Technology.
COVID-19 has received heavy attention and potential orders for UV light equipment has grown dramatically. Especially since the US Department of Defense’s National Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has started creating their own units.
According to the company’s website, more than 1,000 units of the machine and accessories have been sold by them since they announced the positive results of the systems.
“I would say our business has grown 4 to 5,600 percent,” Timmon said. This is coming directly from the company’s chairman and co-founder Timmon Kowal.
From DARPA, to Prisons, Schools, Hospitals, and Homes UVC is getting a lot of attention as one of the most effective ways to kill viruses. We all know that this year has been a nightmare with Covid-19 uprooting all our lives. This doesn’t have to go on forever, and with new systems such as Pathogen UK’s Elite-101, you can feel safe in your home or workplace.
Peace of mind, safety, and helping us all get life moving again is the core offering of UVC Virus Sterilisation systems.
